Edmonton Métis Dancers were formed in the fall of 1985 by Georgina Donald through her dance programs at the Canadian Native Friendhip Centre. The goal was to preserve Métis Dance and Métis music and to teach it to the younger generation to insure that it will continue to survive as a way for Métis People have pride in their culture and heritage. Edmonton Métis Dancers have won many Dance championships including 9 national group competitions at Back to Batoche Days in Saskatchewan. Current dancers Brent Potskin is a 7 time Canadian Red River Jig Champion and Raymond Gladue is a 6 time Canadian Red River Jig Champion.
